This version supersedes the 3rd edition from 2012, and includes a Clinical Summary document which highlights essential takeaways. The 4th edition of this guidance provides an update on key issues on which clinical recommendations have changed (or become more specific) or on which we now have more knowledge about. Some of these are mechanism of action, the safety of repeated use, interactions between different types of EC pills, other drugs interactions, and updated recommendation on use of hormonal contraceptives after EC pills.
