Line Directors Workshop on the challenges of Health SDGs indicators and 4th HPN Sector Programme was held on 11th January 2016 at DGHS Conference Room. The workshop was facilitated by Prof. .Dr.Abul Kalam Azad, Additional Director General  (Planning &development) and Line Director MIS, DGHS. Ex- Health Secretary, Mr. Md. Humayun Kabir, Representatives from icddr,b and UNICEF were present in the workshop. In introductory speech, Prof. Dr.Abul Kalam Azad mentioned that the global community has prioritized the Global Reference List of 100 Core Health Indicators for results monitoring. This is referred as “The Global Reference List,” which is a standard set of 100 core indicators to provide concise information on the health situation and trends, including responses at national and global levels.

These indicators of relevance to country, regional and global reporting across the global health priorities relating to the post-2015 health goals of the Sustainable Development Goals, the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) agenda, new and emerging priorities such as no communicable diseases, universal health coverage and other issues in the post-2015 development agenda. These Global Indicators will be revised in March 2016. Under this backdrop, health data management from all health facilities will play important role in health reporting system which will create desired accountability and transparency in the performance of health sector. All Line Directors of DGHS – participants of the workshop pointed out the significance of health data management through DHIS-2 software and emphasized on health data generation and data interpretation towards evidence- based health policy making in Bangladesh.
