Day 1: October 20, 2016
The training workshop started with welcoming the participants and introduction of all attendees by Dr. ATM Iqbal Anwar followed by sharing training objectives. Afterwards, Dr. Gour Moni Sinha (Director, Sylhet Division) delivered his welcome speech as the Chief Guest -. In his speech, he thanked SHARE project of icddr,b – to take such timely and important initiative to organize this training for health managers. He also heightened the importance of quality research and importance of evidence informed health policy making in Bangladesh. Dr. Sukumar Chandra Sur Roy (Deputy Program Manager, DGHS) highlighted the importance of the workshop as an collaborative effort of SHARE project of icddr,b and Planning unit of DGHS. Dr. Md. Habibur Rahman (Civil Surgeon, Sylhet) was also present in the inaugural session as Special Guest. In his speech, he provided important directives to the health managers regarding proper utilization of available resources and importance of health systems research. After the pre-test, scheduled sessions were conducted by respective facilitators as follow:

Day 2: October 19, 2016
The 2nd day of the training session started with a recap -facilitated by Dr. K.M. Saif-Ur-Rahman. After the short recap, scheduled sessions were conducted by respective facilitators as follow:

Participants enjoyed the hands on training on Literature Search and performed with enthusiasms. During Urban Health session, participants actively shared their experience and opinion regarding Urban Health Service Delivery and Governance. Suggestions were noted mentioned by the participants for developing the urban health service delivery. All -participants were extremely encouraged and motivated by the presentation on ‘Chougacha Model’ by Dr. Emdadul Haque. Mr. SK Aminur Rahman Khoka (Ex-chairman, Jhinaidaha Pourashava) was also present as a Special Guest and shared his valuable experiences in role of community participation in improving quality of health service delivery at local level.
Day 3: October 20, 2016
After the short recap, scheduled sessions were conducted by respective facilitators as follow:

A short closing ceremony followed by certificate distribution was arranged at the end of training sessions. Dr. Gour Moni Sinha (Director, Sylhet Division), Dr. Md. Habibur Rahman (Civil Surgeon, Sylhet), Dr. Sukumar Chandra Sur Roy (Deputy Program Manager, DGHS) were present in the closing ceremony. All the participants were highly impressed with the training. They stated that as health manager, the learning from this training will be very much beneficial for them in future planning and decision making.
At the end, Dr. Gour Moni Sinha (Director, Sylhet Division) thanked the organizers and participants for the tremendous effort in organizing the training. “This will encourage the health managers to contribute more at the field level” – Honorable Director of Health, Sylhet Division concluded the workshop with this optimism.
- Pre- and –post-test assessment:
Pre- and post-test of the EIPM training was conducted to explore the change in attainment of knowledge in participants. Total score was 20 and duration was 10 minutes.
