Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in Bangladesh. According to WHO report- out of 14,900 annual case detection of breast cancer in Bangladesh, about 7200 women die each year. European Union supported SHARE (Strengthening Health, Applying Research Evidence) project of icddr,b organized its 2nd ‘Café Scientifique’ on ‘Breast Cancer Scenario: Prevention and Awareness’ in collaboration with the Bangladesh Breast Cancer Awareness Forum at TSC Cafeteria, the University of Dhaka on 13 October 2017, Friday. Professor Habibullah Talukder Ruskin, Head of Cancer Epidemiology, National Institute of Cancer Research and Hospital moderated the event. Dr. Iqbal Anwar, Scientist and Project Director of icddr,b gave welcome remarks in Cafe Scientifique formatted health dialogue at TSC Cafeteria. Dr. Mushtuq Hossain, Ex-Principal Scientific Officer of IEDCR, Prof. Fariha Haseen of BSMMU and Prof. Mainul Islam spoke talked about awareness on breast cancer and mass campaign issues. Prof Ruskin highlighted the significance of screening and early detection and available treatment options in his keynote speech. icddr,b researchers, teachers, students of Dhaka University and BSMMU, mass media representatives and different professional groups participated in the health dialogue yesterday.
